Certified Administrative Professional /CAP

Beginning in 2001, a new certification became available entitled CAP
(Certified Administrative Professional).  

Administered twice annually - the first Friday and Saturday of May and
November.

Membership in IAAP is not required to take the CAP exam.
Designed to measure the candidate's ability to properly analyze a  
situation, determine the critical factors of the situation and properly apply a
wide range of knowledge in a variety of situations.  

While candidates will not be successful on part four unless they have a
solid theoretical foundation, this part is designed to test critical thinking
skills and the ability to properly apply sound managerial concepts.

Certified Professional Secretary /CPS

In today's business environment, you need every advantage to stay on top.  
Professional certification shows employers, clients and associates that
you are committed as a professional.

Certification is a mark of excellence that you carry with you everywhere you
go.

The CPS certification will enhance your career success through:

Job Advancement - The CPS rating gives you a competitive edge for
promotion and hiring.

skills by studying for and taking the CPS exam.

Salary - A recent IAAP Membership Profile study shows that CPS holders
earn an average of $2,228 more per year than those who do not have
certification.

Esteem - Attaining the CPS certification demonstrates to your employer

College Credit - Many colleges and universities offer course credit for
studying for and passing the CPS exam.

Who's Eligible?

You may take the CPS exam if you are employed as an administrative
professional or have at least two years of work experience as an
administrative professional, varying according to your level of college
education.  Students and teachers in a college business education
program also may qualify.

Taking the CPS Examination

The CPS exam is a one-day exam, administered each May and
November, at locations across the United States.  There are three parts :

Finance & Business Law - 30% economics, 35% accounting, 35%
business law.

Office Systems & Administration - 50% office technology, 25% office
administration, 25% business communication.

Management - 36% behavioral science in business, 19% human
resources management, 45% organizations and management.

CPS exams are given in May and November of
each year.
